The esports division of Kambi Group, Abios, has named Anton Janér as its new Chief Executive. Janér takes the helm following the exit of Oskar Fröberg, the company’s long-serving CEO and co-founder, who is exploring new ventures. As a co-founder alongside Fröberg in 2013 and former CTO, Janér brings a wealth of expertise and intimate company understanding to the role. His appointment commences on May 1st.
Kambi acquired Abios in 2021 for €17.2 million. Fröberg conveyed confidence in both the acquisition and Janér’s capacity to guide Abios forward.
Kambi has already initiated the integration of Abios’ esports offerings into its sports betting platform, starting with esports FIFA odds in March. They intend to broaden this to encompass esports basketball, Counter-Strike, and League of Legends. Presently, Kambi and Abios provide coverage for roughly 6,000 esports FIFA matches monthly.
“I am privileged to assume the Managing Director position and steer Abios into its subsequent phase,” remarked Janér, echoing the sentiment of a promising future for the company.
For years, Oscar and I have dedicated ourselves completely to Abios. Witnessing its transformation into a frontrunner in the field has been incredibly fulfilling. I’m enthusiastic about the possibilities that lie ahead and eager to witness our next achievements alongside our exceptional colleagues.”
