Churchill Downs Incorporated debuted their latest entertainment destination, Derby City Gaming Downtown, coinciding perfectly with the 150-day mark until the 150th Kentucky Derby.

This new venue centers around the excitement of horse racing, featuring 500 innovative “historical racing machines”, a designated area for wagering on races and sporting events, and even a retail space offering Kentucky Derby memorabilia. This marks the sixth Kentucky location where CDI has introduced these historical racing machines, and notably, it showcases the state’s inaugural 3D wraparound video display viewable without specialized eyewear.

“We hold immense pride in this endeavor,” remarked Bill Carstanjen, CDI’s Chief Executive Officer. He highlighted how this venture not only benefits equine racing in Kentucky but also injects vitality into downtown Louisville, potentially encouraging comparable developments. He envisions Derby City Gaming Downtown as a sought-after leisure destination for residents, bourbon aficionados, convention attendees, and visitors. “This transcends mere financial gain,” Carstanjen elaborated, “It represents an investment in the essence of our city, upholding its heritage, and shaping its tomorrow.”

Furthermore, the project has already generated over 150 permanent positions within the local workforce.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear added his perspective, stating, “Horse racing is deeply ingrained in our identity.” He commended Churchill Downs for fostering connections throughout the state and globally.

The Bluegrass State recently commemorated the debut of its latest wagering establishment, featuring a ceremonial ribbon cutting and a charitable contribution of $40,000, divided equally between the Norton Healthcare Foundation and the Hope Bus.

Although residents could commence in-person gambling on September 7th, 2023, the ease of wagering via mobile devices won’t be available until September 28th.

This Kentucky sports betting venue arrives shortly after a comparable endeavor in the Commonwealth of Virginia, where Churchill Downs Incorporated collaborated with Rosie’s Gaming Emporium.
