BetMGM has taken the lead sponsorship role for the Premier League Darts competition. The roster of participants for this year’s event will be revealed later today.
This sponsorship follows a successful 2024 PDC World Darts Championship backed by Paddy Power, which concluded with a gripping final match between Luke Humphries and Luke Littler. BetMGM has already established partnerships with several soccer clubs, such as Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Newcastle United. Now, they are entering the realm of darts as a primary sponsor.
The BetMGM Premier League Darts will occur from February to May, showcasing eight elite players vying for a prize fund of £1 million (equivalent to $1.3 million). The highest-ranking four players in the league standings will progress to the playoff stage at the season’s end.
Matt Porter, the PDC’s Chief Executive, conveyed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the Premier League’s extensive reach with both in-person spectators and television audiences globally. He anticipates an exhilarating 20th season, particularly with the tournament’s high-intensity eight-player, nightly elimination format.
BetMGMs UK leader, Sam Behar, conveyed enthusiasm about their recent collaboration with Premier League Darts. He characterized it as an exhilarating and captivating sport, expressing hope for a prosperous 2024 for both BetMGM and the PDC.
