The Lottery Corporation of British Columbia (BCLC) has earned high praise for its dedication to responsible gambling. An autonomous body, the World Lottery Association (WLA), commended BCLC’s player awareness initiative as a “model standard” that surpasses expectations. This program, coupled with BCLC’s commitment to research and player protections, has secured them the WLA’s highest certification level for the fifth consecutive time. BCLC distinguishes itself as one of just 13 lottery entities in North America to attain this level of acknowledgment, showcasing their role as a frontrunner in fostering secure and beneficial gaming environments.
Throughout their certification assessment, BCLC emphasized numerous responsible wagering programs. These encompass their online GameSense guidance service, proactive engagement with individuals who have opted out via the Game Break initiative, and enhanced verification protocols at British Columbia gaming establishments. BCLC also noted the effectiveness of their GameSense responsible gambling trademark, which has been authorized for utilization by other gaming entities globally.
The WLA certification remains effective for three years. This announcement follows closely behind BCLC’s recently published yearly review, “Concentrated on What’s Important: BCLC Yearly Review,” which underscored the organization’s ecological, societal, and governance (ESG) achievements in 2022/23.
The review stressed BCLC’s dedication to ethical gaming, reconciliation with First Nations communities, diversity, fairness, and integration, and ecological preservation.
Separately, BCLC recently collaborated with Instant Win Lottery (IWG) to introduce the “Lifeline Lotto” game on PlayNow.com.
