Esports Entertainment Group has inked a long-term agreement with Double River Global Holdings to enter the New Jersey sports wagering market.
Esports Entertainment Group, an esports wagering operator, intends to introduce a unique mobile application that, upon activation, will enable consumers within the state to place bets on a variety of esports competitions.
At present, esports wagering in New Jersey is subject to individual approvals by the state’s Division of Gaming Enforcement. Nevertheless, a proposal introduced in January by Assemblyman Ralph Caputo seeks to relax these limitations, permitting wagering alongside conventional sporting events.
The A637 bill cleared the New Jersey Assembly in late July and has been forwarded to the Senate, where it is presently under review by the State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee.
The collaboration and subsequent launch are dependent upon Double River obtaining the required regulatory authorizations to finalize its acquisition of the Bally’s Atlantic City hotel and casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
